Musings

This has been a tough January. Lots of losses, lots of illness, lots of disappointments. And yet, there have been moments of brilliance as well. Inspired by Soule Mama's post today, here are my ten moments of happiness:

Draw

My Word For The Year this year is draw, so I suppose I should post a few drawings. Here are some more pages from my Journal Your Christmas art journal.

Have you chosen your Word For the Year? Last year I chose "create", and there on links on the right for the mini-book tutorial I created to go with it.  I chose it with an artistic implication in mind, but fate had something else in store for me. Instead of creating a lot of art, I created a whole new lifestyle for my family, especially concerning food. True, I was forced to due to Max's Celiac and his numerous food allergies, but we have all become healthier as a result (and so has the planet).  So I thought I would be more literal this year, and maybe the universe will comply. Then again, I may get trapped in a spaghetti western...

Oreo

This is Oreo. He came to us via a wonderful local rescue group, HARP. He is adjusting to life in the Maupin household, and he is one serious love bug. He gets so relaxed when you pet him that he'll actually fall over, but look out when the feather wand is near! He was very curious about the camera, and wasn't too interested in holding still for a nice, posed shot. This was one of the few non-blurry pictures. He is really bonding with Madeline, and runs up to greet her when she gets home from school. That's exactly what we had hoped for. Now if he'll just stop walking over my keyboard...

Yes, I have finally finished a painting. I started this in May, I think. The background sat around forever. Yet another heart, I know, but what can I say? I'm obsessed.  Let's just call it a series. That doesn't sound so crazy.

It's About Time

Why did I think I would post during our crazy time of year? I did, however, complete my JYC art journal (okay, I have two entries to do, but 29 are completed!), the December Daily is complete up to the 23rd, and I actually completed a painting yesterday! I need to photograph all of it, so I will share with you one of my favorite Christmas pictures. It's so our family (and poor little cousin Ben got a big smooch from Molly!).

Tomorrow, I'll introduce you to the newest member of the family (!) and a few more pages from the JYC journal. Or maybe the new sketchbook. Or the painting. I've been busy lately!
